Hey there!

Before Christmas, I had been thinking about re organizing my crafty space. My fiancé had told me that he thought it would be a good idea to get a piece of pegboard for my room. Well... One 2x4 piece turned into one 4x8 piece which turned into me saying "oh goodness, I can't decide which wall to put it on", which then turned into two 4x8 pieces of cork above each of my 8" tables. Well let me tell you- I was one happy girl!


Below are a few of the [boring] 'before' pictures:

The room I use for my scrap room is in our basement. Its more of a 'den' type.  There are no windows and the lighting wasn't the best. 

Now for the AFTER photos!!

When the peg board went up!

 

I have 2 4"x8" tables for myself and 1 2"x4" table that my son uses. He is a crafty little guy, too!

I had purchased a Kallax 4x4 shelving unit/room divider from IKEA.  It fits the 12x12 albums perfectly!

 

 The picture below shows my main crafting space.  It looks quite dark and shadowy in this picture.  However, I did pick up some 4" of LED strip lighting from Home Depot and adhered it along the bottom on the pegboard and it is so perfect now!!

 

We picked up a few peg board hook kits from Home Depot and Princess Auto, as well as some plastic baskets from Dollarama that I attached to the pegboard using hooks to store my stickers that are no longer in the packages, and also my wooden stamps and inks.

I may have a Washi tape addiction-I'll let you decide ;)

Materials used were:

  2 4x8 pieces of pegboard

  2 2x8 pieces of trim for the back for spacing

  1 pack of felt furniture circles places around the backing so it doesn't scratch the walls

  1 pack of 1" screws

  1 pack of deck screws ( used to screw the pegboard into the studs)

  5 various packs of hooks
  6 packs of plastic bins
  1 4" stip of LED lighting

   

  Cost: $150 and about 1 hour to reinforce the pegboard and hang it.

Working with Vinyl

Hey there, It's been a while! Wanted to share some vinyl projects I've been working on lately.

I purchased a Silhouette Cameo starter kit from my local Michael's and got to work! The instructions were pretty straight forward, although it does take some patience! I also had a few rolls of black vinyl and transfer tape I had picked up from Homesense for an  awesome $4.99 each a few months ago!

I've seen this on Pinterest- customized nightlights! How cool is that?! I bought the nightlight at my local Dollarama for $3 and added a vinyl image.

My son chose the first image for his room.

Then I made this one and he had to have both!

I have also seen people making ring dishes so I gave it a go! I am glad I stumbled across a lady who gave a brief description of 'how' a monogram works.

The first initial of the last name is always in the middle and it is usually larger and fancier. The first initial of the first name is first, with the first initial of the middle name being last. I followed a tutorial online for how to make my font seem circular. It can be found here !

Lastly, a jewellery dish.

Christmas Card Blog Hop

Hey there! This month it was decided that we wold do a Christmas card blog hop!  It is being hosted by Jodie from Prairie Paper Haven.  If you are just joining us and would like to start at the beginning, click here.  Otherwise, have a look at a few cards I've been working on!

This card makes me so happy! I used a DigiStamp from Stamp Fairy and colored it with my Prismacolor pencils.  I used paper from the 'Snow Day' 6x6 paper pad by Crate Paper and stamped the sentiment from the 'Happy Christmas' stamp set by Amy R Stamps. I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut both the white circle with the bear image and the scalloped circle. 

I also want to show you is this clean and simple card.

I cut the ornaments from Recollections cardstock and drew the black lines with my Silhouette sketch pens.  I rounded the corners and finished off with another sentiment from the 'Happy Christmas' stamp set by Amy R Stamps.

Christmas is just around the corner!

Good morning!


Christmas is just around the corner and I'm feeling the pressure all around! I spent this morning re-arranging my living room so we can put our tree up this weekend.  I am half done my Christmas shopping and hope to be completely finished by December 2nd!

Today I have to share with you one of the many Christmas cards I have been working on!

This has to be one of my favorites!! I used a DigiStamp from Stamp Fairy and colored it with my Prismacolor pencils.  I then used my Silhouette Cameo to cut a scalloped circle out of shiny gold paper to place my finished image on.  I also used my Cameo to cut the 'Merry Christmas' ticket-what a wonderful, versatile machine!  I used some scrap Recollections card stock (forest green) and some more shiny gold paper as well as a sheet of 6x6 paper from the Making Merry pack by Little Yellow Bicycle for the base. I cannot recall what line the lace ribbon is from but it sure is lovely!

Halloween Blog hop !

Welcome to the Halloween blog hop.  This will be my first blog hop I've ever done and I'm so thrilled! This Hop is being hosted by Amy from Yo Ho Ho! A Pirate's Life for Me! - Crafts and Jodie from Prairie Paper Haven. Thanks Ladies!

I decided to do a pocket scrapbooking layout for this Hop.  Recently, I took apart my sons 12x12 scrapbook from his first year as I wasn't entirely happy with how it turned out.  I thought this would be a perfect way to get his first Halloween documented!

For both layouts, I used a mix of 6x6 sheets of paper from Teresa Collins- Masquerade Party and My Mind's Eye-Happy Haunting. I cut all the papers to size and inked around the edges or the cards and banners.  The 'EEEK!' comes from a mix of die cuts made by Basic Grey which I purchased at Homesense. The journaling card came from the We R Memory Keepers- Albums Made Easy 'Bewitched' Line.

I cut out banner shapes and added some small alphabet letters from Basic Grey and some enamel dots from the Rocollections 'Witch's Dust Halloween' line. I wasn't sure what kind of pumpkin carve so I carved my son Kasey;s name into it! I used my Tim Holtz distressing tool around the edges of the '31' to add some definition and also used my Tim Holtz tiny attacher to anchor it to the card. Kasey and I are posing with him in his costume!

Kasey was only 4.5 months old for his first Halloween so he didn't quite understand what was going on! I still remember the look on his face when he touched the pulp of the pumpkin! The wood veneer is from the Recollections 'Fall Foliage' line and the enamel dots are from the Recollections 'Midnight Magic Halloween' line.

 I your look close, you can see the 'My First Halloween' phrase on his shirt! The whole outfit was a little big on him!  I must admit, it sure is hard to photograph an image/layout when it is in a plastic pocket.  No matter what I tried, I just couldn't get the flash to disappear :(  I used a brad from the Basic Grey 'Perismman' line and enamel dots from Recollections.

My sister appears in these two pictures.  She has promised to buy Kasey his Halloween costume every year until he no longer wishes to go Trick-or-Treating.  She picked a lion for his first Halloween. Isn't he the cutest?!

Again, I stuck with a brad and wood veneer from the above mentioned lines. I had to do a lot of matting with the pictures on this layout as I had taken them out of a previously made scrapbook.  The skeleton stamp comes from the Teresa Collins- Masquerade Party line which was also purchased at Homesense.

This picture features my Dad and his little buddy.  The journaling card comes from the Basic Grey 'Persimman' line and the enamel dots from Recollections.  The white part where I journalled wasn't originally there. I made an error in my spelling and had to fix it.  I think it turned out quite well!

Below you can see both pages.  I am so happy with how they turned out.  This was my first time inking and I just love how it looks!  This pocket page is from We R Memory Keepers.

This pocket page is from Becky Higgins and is Design J. I like to use the smaller pocket pages in my books sometime as I think it looks neat!

Good afternoon and welcome to my blog!

I am so excited to be able to share my creations with you! My name is Carlye and I am a pocket scrapbooker and card maker. I started scrapbooking 10 years ago in the traditional 12x12 format but now I am a devoted pocket scrapbooker!  I find that pocket scrapbooking has simplified the process for me and allowed me to catch up on my albums rather quickly. There is a local pocket scrapbooking group here in my city and we try to get together once a month to show, share, create and inspire each other!

I also enjoy making cards! Although I don't do it near as much as I would like to, when I am all caught up on my pocket album or need a break, I like to sit down and make a card or two.  I like to make cards for every occasion and have even had the honor of making a 100th birthday card last fall!

I plan to share a mix of cards and pocket pages for you to enjoy, as well as other paper crafting items I may be working on!

Last thing before I post 2 cards for you to see, I would like to thank my good friend Elysia who created this blog for me! She took the time out of her busy schedule and put a lot of effort into making a B-E-A-UTIFUL blog for me! Thanks girl!

I recently bought a few items from the Simple Stories 'Hello Baby' line to use for my pocket scrapbooking. One of my friends is due in January with baby #2 and did not want to find out the sex of the baby which is why I've made the two cards.

 



I just love how they both turned out!!
